New Vintage Inspired Library & Flash Cards for my shop

I've been using library cards in my journaling lately, well because they are cute. But for me the bright white paper on these new cards did not fit with my theme, so I distressed some...then I grabbed some old flash cards and aged them as well...you never know what will be next
I've got them both in my shop aged and not aged
check them out here

My First ATC

I didn't hesitate to sign up for the swap, but then it took me forever to get any inspiration..this is my first ATC at all and my first swap, so I am pretty excited, not sure what others usually end up with, but i'm pleased with my first one..they've not gone out yet so I cannot post a full pic, but here is a little sneak peak

The theme was Halloween, can you tell?

Since i've never done one before I don't have a bunch of pieces at my access to use, so I had a hard time finding a witch that I wanted to use, I ended up finding a printable one online I printed her off and cut around her. Not 100% but it'll do...I'll show the complete card once we've finished the trade..I had to make 10

Creating a Large Journal

After creating a dozen purse size journals, I decided it was time to make a bigger one. For longer trips, more journaling. One that would be just right beside the bed, or your favorite chair.

I used a variety of found papers I've collected on many junkin trips. Maps, accounting sheets, grid paper, notebook paper, music sheets, foreign book pages, scrapbook pages. I then added pockets, envelopes, tags...I love the way it turned out, I'm excited to get started on my next one.

You can find it here in my etsy store.

Junkin Find

I was thrilled to find this old scrapbook on our flea market trip today, since it was the only thing I bought I was glad it was such a find

pages of wedding wishes, gift cards, these are so quaint, the handwriting is all so neat, I wish they had pictures of the wedding, but there were none, just the cards
They took there honeymoon in Niagra Falls. A couple pages with post cards, matchbooks, receipts, business cards. A Hotel receipt showed they paid $4.00 for the hotel room. There was a flyer from Heart Island, I thought it was a neat find since we used to visit this every year when I was a child. I took my children to see it years ago, it's a beautiful castle a man built for his wife.

Baby Congradulations cards..It's a Girl..These are so sweet, nothing as cute as vintage babies...I wonder if they only had the one daughter
Birthday cards..not sure if these were for the women who created the scrapbook or the baby girl she had. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into this womans life, of course it makes me curious who she was, what she looked like..
I look forward to using these wonderful finds, I might use some in my journals

Day Three

Today's list is the one I always dread, It's such a hard question to answer, if I say I'm nice and sweet am I being realistic and if I say I'm moody am I being too hard on myself. So what I did was ask my sons and hubby...IMG_9052
I think motherly and crafty are safe so I started with those, my 16 year old son said different, I asked if he meant that in a good way or bad way, he says however you want to take it..so I'm different..I like to think of it as I'm unique
My 20 year old son says I'm worrisome..well I have three boys that have no fear..of course I am worrisome...that's just what mom's do.
My 16 year old comes back and says goofy, ok i take that as a good thing, fun, funny..I like that one
My hubby calls as I'm writing them down and I ask him...he says wonderful...what a suck up..lol..he never has a negative word to say about me
I've heard people call me helpful so I added that one.
The title page is a vintage flash card with tags and an added butterfly stamp. The journal page is from an old accounting book. I created the book before I knew what the journal prompts would be or what order...so I had added this tape that says gorgeous*perfect...I just thought that was funny when I turned to the next page..so not what I think I would be described as...but ads a bit of whimsy

Sunday, September 2, 2012

Day two

I have a pretty good list of goals for this month...weather I get them all done or not is another story
~ work on house - finish walls (we are building our own home, the walls are being made of clay/straw slip, it's been a very time consuming job) Shower (my hubby wants a waterfall in the shower and he plans on doing the shower all in rock) Stain floor (I recently did some stain samples to see what I like, honestly I am procrastinating doing the whole floor, it means moving everything out, cleaning the floor thoroughly, but it does need to get done)
~plan Halloween party (I've been wanting to do one for years, my plan is that the house will be done enough to have one there this year)
~Do more chapters in 'Soul Mapping' a great book I found at a yard sale, gives thoughtful questions that make you look at your past present and where you want to be in the future
~Consistent blogging - as you can see my posts have not been at all..but my goal is to make my blog an inspiration and great resource
~visit hubby's parents - they live about 3 hrs south of us closer to the beach, we've been so busy on the house we've not been down in a few months
~help gramma with auction - my gramma has finally decided to move from FL and be closer to the rest of the family, we are all so thrilled to hear this (she was in FL with just one of her sons) She plans on having an auction to sell all the stuff she will not be bringing with her.

of course I may add to my list as the month goes on, and ignore or put off a thing or two.
so far 30 days of lists has given me something to look forward to everyday. Not just doing my journal but seeing everyone's list as well.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Day one

Today is day one of 30 days of lists..
I am a lister because
~I have a horrible memory -- I forget what i did yesterday and would not remember important things I need to do tommorrow
~ I can't sleep with thoughts in my head - I have to write things down
~If I write things down I can visualize what I need to do
~ I love to make check marks -- it didn't happen if there's no check list

My first page is from a book of letter between 4 teen girls, I like the handwriting, I added some washi tape to the top
Second page is vintage inspired scrapbook paper with flags
